Business Day indicated that agricultural company Afgri largely has its South Africa business in shape and is now looking to expand its operations in Africa. The company believes bigger opportunities now lie outside South Africa. Afgri is undergoing a turnaround to focus on the maize value chain. Financing further expansion poses no problem as it has R690 million cash in hand. It expects another R150 million to come in this year from the sale of noncore assets. CEO Chris Venter says service- based expansion need not be costly.
