Since the end of the civil war, Mozambique has increasingly become a popular holiday destination, in particular, for South Africans. It’s just a 6 hour drive from Johannesburg, just close enough for a long-weekend away. This in turn has prompted growth in property development.

Adrian Frey, an investor in the tourism sector, came to Mozambique on a holiday 12 years ago and never looked back. He says it’s not just middle class South Africans and Europeans responsible for generating the $190mn recorded for this sector in 2008.
