D-Day for tax returns in South Africa
Of course, it's D-Day for tax returns here in South Africa today, with the SA Revenue Services threatening penalties for those who submit their returns after today. And revenue collection in South Africa has been one of the big success stories of the past decade, with SARS becoming increasingly efficient, first under Pravin Gordhan, who's now Finance Minister, and now under his successor Oupa Magashula. Magashula has now been appointed at the chairperson of the African Tax Administration Authority and I spoke to him earlier from the Ugandan capital Kampala, where the inaugural meeting of the Forum is being held.
